Thank you !

Dear residents of Newport Pagnell and beyond,

Although the list is endless, we would like to thank the following for making Newport Pagnell Christmas Lights Switch On (24/11/01) the huge success it was this year: -
The volunteers that came out every Sunday morning from June. They also sacrificed many Saturdays and other days and nights when they should be at home with their families.
Our junior squad for working all their way through the Summer Holidays and a lot more.
British Telecom for allowing us to use Bill and Terry and there hoist free of charge, who now seems part of our family.

The traders and businesses of Newport Pagnell, despite few, once again coming to our rescue with voluntary sponsorship or donations of money and/or Raffle Prizes.
In particular, Mark Bryant and all his staff at The Swan Revived Hotel for their continued hospitality and support over the many years, as we often invade their building not
only on Switch On, but also regularly throughout the year.
In addition, The Royal British Legion should get a good mention for pretty much the same reasons.
Local Radio Stations and Newspapers for their coverage
The many schools and acts etc., that give up half an hour of their time on Switch On Day to perform free of charge, bringing home that Xmas and Christian Spirit, that so many of us lack nowadays. (G-Force were only given three weeks notice!!!!)
The star of the day, it has to be said was Nigel Smith – who happily MC’d for us all day free of charge.
The stallholders, street traders, shopkeepers and the many more that made the street market once again go with a swing – for without you – it would not have happened.
The Police, who once again came to our rescue with crowd control – especially as Jackie could not shout at people due to her Bronchitis.
Thanks for the loan of the bell at The Royal British Legion!!!!
Mike Barry The Mayor
Harry Cooper the Switch On Winner,
Vic Bradnam of Sherington Vintage Wedding Cars who chauffeured Harry to the switch on ceremony free of charge.
In addition, our long term friends Ron Spendloff and Arthur Bateson of the Newport Lights who should have retired years ago – but without them what would have the volunteers done?
Wendy and Brian Egan, who wonderfully operated the BBQ stall very successfully at last minute notice and the many, other people we have not mentioned.
The main people we would really like to thank is all the members of the public that have supported us throughout the year as well as turning out for Switch On – you are the people that have kept us going for 41 years!!!! Your smiles and comments fuel us into action every year.
Alan Sanders for constructing the controller box that makes all of the display possible

If we have left you out, a huge sorry – you know you are in our heart.

Thank you all for a wonderful day, it made all those months of heartbreak worth it again!!!
