The 2003 Display

Summary of the day

On Saturday 29th November 2003 the 43rd Newport Pagnell Christmas lights display was switched on. The day kicked off to a good start with the burger and bacon stall being set up and providing it's wares to the charity volunteers as they set up their stalls.

Mr Burger King, Tom Haynes, continued to barbecue the finest meat in town through until close of business at 5:30pm. We were again supported this year by the Gin Corrado and the Millenium Volunteers who's help is greatly appreciated.

The MC for this year was Scot Haynes, Lights Press Secretary, and he was ably assisted by Paul Bullion and Craig Sanderson from the Diamond Theatre School. Later in the day Wes from Horizon Radio turned up in Black Thunder to provide additional support. The sound system was administered by Joe Medrek and Liam Farrow. Jackie and Trevor greeted the crowds and the rest of the team controlled the road blocks and raffle stall

A wide range of acts struggled on through the harsh weather and special praise should be made to Diamond Theatre School, Amethyst Majorettes and the Bluegrass Line Dancers who continued to perform to the highest standard through the wettest weather of the day.

Mrs Becks, our sponsor a bulb winner, arrived just before 5pm in a stretched limo provided by Limelite Limousines. She was also accompanied by Santa Claus who had come along to ensure all the boys and girls were behaving and therefore deserve their christmas presents that his staff are currently wrapping.

The magic green button was pushed at 5pm and the town was showered in light. We'd like to thank everyone in the town for their continued support and wish you all a merry christmas and a happy new year.
